In a heartening news, Vizag’s Saketh Myneni has won the $25,000 ITF Futures men’s singles title in Karshi, Uzbekistan, on Saturday.

Saketh Myneni defeated  Yaraslav Shyla 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (4) in a hard-fought final that lasted for about an hour and 57 minutes.

“It’s been a tough grind. I am happy with the progress. Whatever progress I have been making, the things that I have been working on is coming back. My fitness is also increasing,” Myneni was quoted as saying by TOI.

The Vizag lad held a ranking of 137 before it slipped to 530 due to the setbacks he received owing to multiple injuries.

Saketh Myneni’s love for Tennis

A Vizagite, born in the city, Saketh Myneni started his schooling at Timpany. His initial tryst with tennis began at the local tennis courts and at Century Club, where his father was a member. It was after all his passion and drive right from when he was a young boy. “I was always interested in outdoor sports of some kind, but when I turned 11; I knew it was going to be tennis for me. I picked up the sport faster than many others and my visual learning capabilities made me good at the game from the start,” he said in an earlier interview to Yo! Vizag.
