1. Vishwanath & Sons 

Directed by Venky Atluri, Vishwanath And Sons brings together Suriya, Mamitha Baiju, Radhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in a romantic family drama. Suriya plays Sanjay Vishwanath, an Olympic pistol shooter who has little interest in marriage. However, his mother’s efforts to find him a suitable match set him on an unexpected journey that explores themes of family, relationships, parenthood and the choices we make in life. With emotional conflicts and plenty of family drama, Vishwanath And Sons could be a pick for those looking for an engaging entertainer this weekend!

2. DC

Written and directed by Arun Matheswaran, the film was well-received by audiences for its brutal violence and purpose-driven storytelling. The story follows outlaws who outsmart corrupt cops and embark on a revenge-driven mission, while the narrative plays out with heaps of unexpected twists.

3. Batwara 1947

With a banger cast featuring Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi and Ali Fazal, Batwara 1947 is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan.

The film follows Sikander Mirza and his family as they migrate from India to Pakistan, navigating life in a refugee camp before being allotted a haveli and facing the challenges that follow. Based on Asghar Wajahat’s play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai, the film explores the emotional aftermath of Partition. With its themes of displacement, and resilience, the film makes for a perfect Independence Day weekend watch.

4. Awarapan 2

Released in 2007, Awarapan became a cult classic, with Emraan Hashmi delivering an intense performance as a hitman seeking redemption. The film was also appreciated for its soundtrack and portrayal of grief and spiritual healing. Now, the sequel is in theatres, directed by Nitin Kakkar and starring Emraan Hashmi, Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi.

Whether the new chapter can recreate the impact of its predecessor while bringing a fresh redemption arc and thrilling action is something audiences will have to discover on the big screen.

5. The End of Oak Street
