Kurupam incident: 46 girls still getting treatment in KGH

Eighteen of the 64 girls of the tribal welfare residential school for girls at Kurupam in Parvatipuram district, who have been admitted to KGH due to illness, were discharged from the hospital in the last two days.

According to hospital Superintendent Vani, 46 girls are still getting treatment.

Over 100 students of the school fell ill reportedly due to viral fever and jaundice. With the condition of several students turning serious, as many as 64 were admitted to KGH.

Ministers Vangalapudi Anitha and Sandhyarani visited the hospital and directed officials to ensure better treatment for the children.

The government has set up a committee to probe into the incident and also to review the conditions at the school.
