Minister Nadendla Manohar announced that the Civil Supplies department has introduced a new policy to curb the smuggling of ration rice in Vizag, according to the latest news.
He stated that approximately 700 mobile kits will be distributed for on-site testing of rice quality. If the rice turns red in the mobile kit, it can be confirmed as ration rice. He pointed out that up to this point, rice samples had been sent to the laboratory for testing.
Nadendla further explained that approximately 5 lakh quintals of rice have been seized under the coalition government’s leadership, along with the registration of about 230 criminal cases against illegal traders at the Kakinada port last year.
He also informed that to prevent the smuggling of the ration rice, 3 check posts, with 33 staff, have been set up in Visakhapatnam. The check posts will ensure that the ration rice is properly supplied to the poor. Details about the quantity and quality of the rice will be checked more precisely, the minister said.
Minister Nadendla Manohar also specified that the investigation into the illegal transportation of ration rice at Kakinada port will continue.
