Cooperate to keep city clean: Ketan Garg

The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has initiated an action plan focusing on cleanliness, beautification, and city development, and it requires cooperation from the people, according to Commissioner Ketan Garg.

In a press note, Ketan Garg stated that the sanitation and health enforcement (SHE) teams, which have been constituted to monitor those who dump garbage in open places and on roads, are on the job and have warned of action against such practices.

According to him, the GVMC has observed that many traders and residents in the city are dumping waste in open spaces, canals, on roads and footpaths. Similarly, businessmen in the vicinity of the beach are dumping garbage on the beach, polluting the seawater and surroundings.

Traders who dump waste in violation of rules will be fined Rs. 1,000, and residents will be fined Rs. 500.

Similarly, the teams are also inspecting hotels, restaurants, and food stalls following the complaints about unhygienic conditions and serving stale food.

Pointing out that the city will be hosting several national and international conferences, Ketan Garg has appealed to all sections to cooperate with the GVMC to ensure that Vizag city is clean and green.
