Vizag police on a drive against illegal sale of crackers

The Vizag police are on a drive against illegal sale, storage, and manufacturing of crackers in the limits of the commissionerate.

The police, following a directive by Commissioner of Police Shanka Brata Bagchi, have been conducting raids in the city.

In Malkapuram, the police raided a house on 18 October and found the storage of crackers worth Rs. 1 lakh without any permission. Following the information, they conducted the raid and seized the material.

Similarly, the task force personnel took a person into custody in Pendurthi on 17 October on the charge of selling crackers illegally. The stored stock was seized and handed over to the police. A case was registered against the seller.

In another case, B. Vinod Kumar of Jaggaiahpalem in the city was taken into custody for allegedly selling crackers without any permission. Crackers worth Rs. 30,000 were seized from him.

The city police, in a statement, warned that stringent action would be taken against those who indulge in the sale and storage of crackers.

Meanwhile, the sale of crackers began at the sites allotted for the purpose.
