Five must-watch new OTT releases to binge this weekend!

October is when all the best things happen. This is when the festive vibes are at their peak, with Diwali and Halloween falling in the same month. With all the festivities going on, one can’t help but want some Me-time, a time where you can sit in your cosy warm bed, wrapped in a fluffy warm duvet, along with your favourite snacks and drinks at the side.  Sounds like the perfect getaway from all the hustle and bustle around, right? Here is a list of OTT releases this week that will add to your weekend watchlist!

1. IT: Welcome To Derry

The most-awaited proquel series of the iconic cult favourite IT is set to give us the chills once again. Set in the 1960s, this series will narrate the much-anticipated backstory of Pennywise, played by Bill Skarsgard, who played the dancing killer clown in the previous two parts as well. The story is an expansion of Stephen King’s book series ‘It’, surrounding the history of Derry and the origin of Pennywise.

2. The Elixir 

This Indonesian horror revolves around a dysfunctional family that runs a herbal medicine business. Things go south when the male head of the family, Sadimin, tries out a new herbal elixir that he believes will help him attain everlasting youth and consumes it himself, which turns him into a cannibalistic, hungry zombie, triggering a zombie apocalypse.

Paired with the zombie-infested village on one side, there is also a complicaed family dynamic, as Sadimins has married daughter, Kenes’s best friend, Karina. Kenes is not happy about it but, nothing will change her father’s decision.

3. Vash Level 2 

Sequel to the 2023 Gujarati film Vash, this movie is about the story of Atharva and his 12-year-old daughter Aarya. The story, set in a school, begins with bizarre incidents taking place in the school, where several school girls commit heinous acts for unexplained reasons. Unwillingly, the father-daughter duo have no choice but to come face to face with the demons from their past. Pratap, the villain, has an equally evil brother who wants to locate Pratap. The movie is available for viewing in both Gujarati and Hindi.

4. The Monster Of Florence 

This series is based on the true story of a serial killer in Italy who targeted couples, subjecting the women to extreme brutality born of his misogyny. The case is about Italy’s most infamous serial killer, who was named ‘Il Mostro’ by the media, which translates to ‘The Monster’ in Italian, who terrorised Italy for 17 years, from 1968 to 1985. 16 people, who were 8 couples, were victims of homicide committed by him.

5. Mirage 

The story revolves around Abhirami, a woman on a mission to find her missing fiancé. During her investigation into the case, she uncovers a web of scandalous lies connected to a train crash, which pushes her into a life-threatening situation.

These weekend OTT releases are sure to give you goosebumps and chills. From dysfunctional family drama to true crime documentaries, this list of movies and series on streaming platforms have delivered a feast for their audience. So grab a pal, and a tray full of your favourite munchies and have a great streaming spree ahead this weekend!
