Visakhapatnam Port hosts official visit of Netherlands Ambassador

Marisa Gerards, the ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, along with a delegation from the Netherlands, visited the Visakhapatnam Port on Tuesday.

Durgesh Kumar Dubey, the deputy chairperson of the port, along with security detail and some department heads, greeted the delegation and the Netherlands ambassador at the Visakhapatnam port. The deputy chairperson briefed the delegation about the operations and various strategic initiatives. Some topics discussed included sewage treatment plans (STP), cargo handling capacity, covered storage facilities, solar power projects, and sewage treatment plants (STP) for water recycling for industrial use. 

Other discussions focused on investment opportunities and potential avenues for enhancing import and export activities through the port. The meeting is expected to boost the Indo-Dutch Maritime Trade.

Earlier this month, the Nepal Consul General visited the Visakhapatnam port to discuss opportunities in the import-export field. 

A couple of months ago, Vizag Port received the top spot in the Swachhta Pakhwada Awards 2024, which was organised by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW). The VPA implemented a series of impactful initiatives under the “Swachhata Ki Bhagidari” and “Sampoorna Swachhata”. These include school outreach campaigns, creative competitions, and cultural activities.

The Visakhapatnam Port Authority also won two awards at the 11th annual Greentech CSR Awards, held in New Delhi. These awards were awarded in recognition of the port’s various initiatives in the categories of healthcare promotion and skill development.
