Probe Panel Set Up on Student’s Death in Vizag

Taking a serious view of the death of a minor student, allegedly after being slapped by a teacher at a school in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, the School Education Department has set up a three-member panel to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the sequence of events. Immediately after the incident, department officials conducted an inquiry and submitted a preliminary report.

Based on the preliminary report, a three-member probe committee consisting of the Regional Joint Director (RJD), the District Education Officer (DEO), and the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) was formed. Steps are also being taken to organise necessary sensitisation programmes so that teachers deal with students sensitively.

The officials concerned have been instructed to take all necessary steps to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. According to a statement issued by the department, further action will be taken based on the committee’s report. Meanwhile, doctors have attributed the boy’s death to an electrical shutdown of the heart due to severe pressure. They said teachers should handle students with the utmost care and sensitivity.
