Anakapalle set to get Godavari water

Godavari water is set to flow to Anakapalle through the Polavaram project’s left canal from September 2 to meet the district’s irrigation and drinking water needs. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will take part in the ‘jala harathi’ programme at PL Puram village in Payakaraopeta, Anakapalle district, on Wednesday to mark the release of water from the Polavaram left canal. After Jala harathi, the Chief Minister will address a public meeting and take part in other programmes.

Meanwhile, the Anakapalle district administration is busy making elaborate arrangements to ensure the event’s success. District Collector Vijaya Krishnan, SP Tuhin Sinha, and other senior officials visited the village and reviewed arrangements on the ground.

Over 1,600 police personnel are being deputed as security. They include three additional SPs, nine DSPs, 36 CIs, 90 SIs, 150 ASIs, 427 constables and 150 women constables. “All steps are being taken to make the programme a grand success,” the Collector said.
