In an alarming wake of events, more restaurants have been found serving rotten and stale food in Vizag. The officials of the vigilance and enforcement department and food safety wing continued to crack the whip on restaurants and conducted raids at several eateries and kitchens in the city on Monday. Items like chicken joints, prawns, fish, mutton curry, and biryani were preserved in freezers to serve the customers when an order is received.

As reported by Eenadu, the officials found that food safety norms were not being followed at Raju’s Kitchen at KRM Colony in Seethammadhara in the city. Reportedly, the officials observed the use of leftover rice, and unpermitted substances, including monosodium glutamate (tasting salt) and food colours among others. They also collected several food samples and sent them to laboratories for further analysis. The officials informed that action would be taken against the restaurant after going through the lab report.

Speaking on the occasion, DSP K Sravani and CI Mallikarjuna Rao informed that these restaurants, in Vizag, were serving stale food to their customers. They also noticed the use of unpermitted substances.
