Vizag corporators on a study tour in north India

For the fourth consecutive year, Vizag corporators of the GVMC set out on a study tour to north India on 16 September. As many as 83 corporators, including 43 women corporators, will study the implementation of various projects in Jaipur, Delhi, and other places before returning to Visakhapatnam on 24 September.

The team included the Mayor and officials of the corporation. As a part of the study tour to north India, the Vizag corporators team initially will visit Jaisalmer, Ajmer, and Pushkar, and other places, and interact with corporation officials there. Later, they will move to Delhi and visit different locations as part of their study trip before returning to Visakhapatnam.

The GVMC Council, which met recently, okayed the tour proposal and allocated Rs 1.5 crore for it. During the earlier trips, the corporators visited Coimbatore, Mysuru, Bengaluru, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi, Shimla, Manali, Chandigarh, and Agra.

However, some corporators, including P Murty Yadav of Jana Sena, were against such tours and skipped the trip this year also. Murty Yadav has said it is a waste expenditure and the amount can be spent on developmental activities.
