The Traffic Police in the Visakhapatnam City have been cracking down on offenders in a strict way. Documents, helmets, name it and you got it are being inspected and cases are booked on spot and fine is imposed as prescribed. This all a part of a special drive and since the last week 7867 offenders have had cases booked on them. These are people who have been caught without wearing helmet, do not have the requisite documents which are validated and updated etc. These are special teams of Traffic Police and are booking people as per the MV Act. Various points in the city have been covered and the drive is still on. As per the Act the prescribed fine is being levied on the offenders. Driving after the consumption of alcohol is illegal and the traffic police have zero tolerance for this.
The special drive is not going to end soon and the crack down will continue. The drive is aimed at ensuring traffic rules are enforced and safety and security are maintained on the roads. The no helmet driving has been severely hit upon and traffic police are seen detaining people. The advice has always been to wear for one’s own safety and protection. There is even further reason now. The same goes for alcoholic driving of 2 and 4 wheelers. This is an offense that could land you in jail and cost you a hefty fine. So far 7.8 lakhs has been collected as per reports of leading newspapers.
