A horrific bus accident cost a woman her life in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday. The accident took place in Yelamanchili, when a bus, headed towards Visakhapatnam, smashed into a lory from behind. Ramanamma (43), who belonged to Vizianagaram, occupied one of the front seats of the bus and died on the spot after the collision. Her son, Narayana Rao, and two other passengers were severely injured in the accident, while the remaining 37 had a fortunate escape. However, the accident shed light on a rather bizarre and unfortunate occurrence.
Reportedly, Ramanamma’s husband, Adinarayana too, lost his life in a bus accident six years ago. After Adinarayana’s death, Ramanamma, along with her son, moved to Janampeta, near Eluru, in search of livelihood. With a hearing in Adinarayana’s accident case scheduled to take place in Vizianagaram, the mother and son took a train to Visakhapatnam on Monday. However, with Ramanamma complaining of chest pain in the journey, they got down in Rajamahendravaram to seek medical attention. Eventually, the duo took a bus from Rajamahendravaram to Visakhapatnam. Unfortunately, tragedy struck when the bus met with the accident causing Ramanamma to breathe her last. Recollecting that both his parents have been killed in bus accidents, Narayana Rao has been breaking down frequently.
Meanwhile, the police have cited overspeeding as the probable cause for the fatal accident. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway to gain further insights.
