Allu Arjun released from jail

Actor Allu Arjun, who was arrested in connection with the death of a woman in a stampede at Sandhya theatre in Hyderabad, was released on interim bail from the Chanchalguda jail on 14 December morning.

The actor was arrested on 13 December and produced in the Nampally court which remanded him to 14-day judicial custody. Allu Arjun was shifted to Chanchalguda jail in the evening, even as the hearing on the quash petition was on in the High Court. After hearing the versions of both sides, the High Court granted interim bail.

Though it was expected that the hero would be released in the night, it did not happen due to a delay in the completion of formalities at the jail.

It is learnt that Allu Arjun did not take the food offered by the jail staff and slept on the floor.

Along with Allu Arjun, two others, who were arrested in connection with the case, were also released from jail at 6.45 am. Allu Arjun was listed as A11 in the case.

Several leaders of different parties and celebrities of the film industry condemned the arrest of Allu Arjun, while Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy defended it. Former Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy condemned the arrest of Allu Arjun describing it an unfair act.

After the release, Allu Arjun reached the Geetha Arts office along with his father Allu Aravind. Meanwhile, fans of the actor thronged the residence of the latter in large numbers.
