To spread awareness about viral fevers that are haunting the city, the public health department of Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) in Vizag is going to use Ganesh pandals as a medium to spread a message.
The organisers of the Ganesh Chaturthi pandals in Vizag would be asked to play either a video or an audio which delivers a message about keeping the city clean. It would be easy to spread the message through the pandals as they would be equipped with huge speakers and for a decent period of time. also, a message about health and viral fevers could be delivered.
GVMC Commissioner M Hari Narayanan, while speaking to TOI he said, ” Yes, we have decided to use the loudspeakers at the pandals to spread the message on the need to check viral fevers in the city. We will tell them to play the social messages instead of the songs at least during the peak hours.”
The city police are also issuing no objection certificate to the festival organisers who are approaching them online and offline.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police Fakeerappa mentioned that nearly 2,200 NOC applications were submitted for the permission of the pandals.
“We have issued NOCs to nearly 350 odd applications after conducting a spot verification. These 350 applicants were also issued QR Code from the department. We will complete issuing NOCs by Wednesday evening. Ganesh pandals should not be established without permission from the organizing committee members including the police,” Fakeerappa added.
