The Prime minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe has landed in the country today. He was welcomed with a grand reception in Ahmedabad. India’s Prime minister, Narendra Modi was present at the Ahmedabad airport to personally receive Shinzo Abe and his wife Akie Abe. The both Prime minister then embarked on an 8-km roadshow to the Sabarmati Ashram as the duo was cheered by the crowd present along the way. In fact, this is for the first time in the country when our prime minister along with the prime minister of another country is doing a joint road show. It was heartening to see that Shinzo Abe and his wife dressed up in Indian attire for the roadshow.

After paying homage to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at the Sabarmati Ashram, they visited the iconic 16th-century mosque in the old city, Sidi Saiyad Mosque. It has also been learned that a special Gujurati platter is being prepared for the Japanese Prime minister and his wife. In fact, a team of chefs from Delhi has flown to Ahmedabad for this occasion.

On Thursday, Narendra Modi and Shinzo Abe will participate in the path-breaking ceremony of the bullet-train inauguration. The train, which will be running in between Ahmedabad and Mumbai, has been developed with a whopping budget of INR 1.08 lakh crore.
