The smell of new books, and indulging in it in a place that sets the perfect vibe and surrounds you with people to talk to about it, is every bookworm’s dream come true. Vizag is a place buzzing with bookworms who value literature and would always choose books over Kindles. It’s a community where groups like VizagReads are thriving and growing with every passing day. But there are a few things that Vizag book lovers wish were in Vizag to add heartbeat to their bibliophile souls.

Theatre plays have been here since the 6th century BC. Theatres were one of the most intriguing and celebrated forms of literature and art. Watching drama groups play in the theatre, playwrights like Shakespeare or the Ram Leela, theatres were once a part of people’s lives that excited them the most. Now, it still has a fanbase, but these theatre drama groups have limited themselves to metropolitan cities only.

Bookstores are a place that makes every bookworm forget all their worries, and what more could one ask for when a bookstore comes with a cosy reading lounge? Vizag has Pages, a place that is every bookworm’s haven, and even non-readers find themselves coming back to this place again and again, allowing you to pick any book from their shelves and read it in the seating arrangement there. Vizag could definitely use more book nooks for its increasing craze for bookworms.

Imagine entering into a dimly lit, cosy place that smells of delicious food and refreshing beverages, and above all, offers you a space to read while you savour some yummy food. This is an experience that feeds both the body and the soul. While there are some book cafes in Vizag, there is always room for more.

Every book reader wishes to have at least one person to whom they could speak about the book they just finished, and not just listen, but also feel what they felt for that book. Dedicated book clubs for specific genres would help and encourage readers to attend and be a part of the genre they love.

This one is for the ones who admire the delicate art of poetry. Poetry readings or recitals are a popular way to listen to and share others’ work in a dedicated space. As seen in popular movies like Dead Poets Society and Bright Star, poetry readings or recitals are very scarce in the city (with only Vizagwriters hosting). Vizag’s bookworms could use more such events!
While bookworms might be a smaller group in Vizag, be it, reading clubs and gatherings, it is nonetheless active and thriving. What other things would you add in the list? Let us know in the comments below!
