Woman allegedly gang raped in Visakhapatnam

In yet another disturbing case of sexual assault in the state, a young woman has been allegedly gang-raped by a few youngsters in Visakhapatnam. Reportedly, the woman was assaulted by a few of her friends.

As per the details revealed by the police and the victim’s relatives, nine youngsters (5 boys and 4 girls), belonging to Kailasapuram and Kapparada, on Thursday, went to Pendurthi to attend a birthday party. After the celebrations, they started back home on two-wheelers around 7:30 in the evening and headed in the Anandapuram-Pendurthi route.

However, as per the victim’s report to the police on Friday, a few youngsters stopped their vehicles near Sontyam and gang-raped her.

The police informed that the complainant was sent to KGH in Vizag for medical examinations and the alleged wrong-doers, who were accused in the victim’s report, are suspected to be on the run. After registering the case, the police are currently investigating the case to gain further insights.
