Visakhapatnam will soon be getting a new District Collector. Pravin Kumar, who has been serving the role here since 21 July 2016, has been transferred to West Godavari district while Katamneni Bhaskar will assume charges as Visakhapatnam’s new Collector.
It may be recalled that Pravin Kumar has been serving different roles in Visakhapatnam district for the past six years. Mr Kumar worked as the Joint Collector and the GVMC Commissioner before taking charge as the Collector and District Magistrate.
Pravin Kumar, who hails from Gaya city in Bihar, is renowned for his contributions to Visakhapatnam on several fronts. From playing a key role in the relief operations post HudHud to helping the district attain top spot in various rankings, Mr Kumar received numerous accolades during his tenure in Visakhapatnam.
“I have had the opportunity to handle different responsibilities in Visakhapatnam for the past six years. During my tenure, I have received cooperation from all the officials here. I am happy to be taking charge of the crucial West Godavari district. Also, I’m looking forward to shouldering the responsibility of the Polavaram project, which has gained national significance,” Pravin Kumar was quoted as saying by Eenadu.
On the other hand, Katamneni Bhaskar too is a well-known official for his praiseworthy services as West Godavari’s District Collector for over the past four years.
