As many as 24 candidates have filed nominations to contest for the Lok Sabha seat from Visakhapatnam in the upcoming election. With 25 March marking the last day to file nominations, several leaders and candidates formed a procession to their respective Returning Officers’ chambers with rallies to mark the occasion.
While the nominations filed earlier included those by Sri Bharat Mathukumilli (TDP), MVV Satyanarayana (YSRCP), VV Lakshminarayana (Janasena Party), a total of 19 candidates filed their nominations on Monday.
Along with Daggubati Purandeswari of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and Pedada Ramani Kumari of Congress, Mathukumilli Tejaswini (TDP) Kothapalli Geetha (Jana Jagruthi Party), Patnala Srinivasa Rao (Praja Samanya Party), Boddeti Jaya Venugopal (Pyramid Party of India), Manepally Subadevi (Mundadugu Praja Party) and George Bangari were among others who filed their affidavits before Returning Officers in Visakhapatnam on Monday.
Independent candidates, Bharat Kumar Badveli, Guntu Durgaprasad, Anmish Varma Bhupatiraju, Kona Srinivasa Rao, Gampala Shyam Sundar Rao, Kolledi Suresh Babu, Jeti Ramarao, Gannu Mallayya, Mohan Vamsi Singamsetti, Rajagiri Udaygiri, would also be entering the electoral fray for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha seat.
On the other hand, the Lok Sabha constituencies from Araku and Anakapalle witnessed as many as 13 and 14 nominations respectively.
Andhra Pradesh is slated to go to the Assembly and Parliament polls on 11 April.
