The proposed Visakha economic region gets the focus of the government, with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu having a detailed discussion on it with officials at Amaravati on 10 November.
The meeting was held with the aim of establishing a major growth hub for the State with Visakhapatnam as the centre.
As part of this review, they mainly discussed how to develop the ‘Integrated Visakha Economic Region’, which covers the districts from Srikakulam to Konaseema.
The government hopes to pave the way for economic progress by utilising the natural resources and infrastructure of the region and attracting investments.
Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials to prepare a robust ‘economic master plan’ to achieve the goal. He suggested that this plan should include key elements such as strengthening the economic system of the respective districts, creating a conducive environment for investments, improving the living standards of the people, and achieving sustainable development with environmental protection.
Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand and senior officials from the finance, tourism, industrial, transport, IT, municipal, agriculture, and planning departments participated in the crucial meeting. They provided details to the Chief Minister on the steps to be taken by their respective departments.
