PARTNERSHIP SUMMIT BOOSTS “BRAND VIZAG” PROMOTION

On the success completion of the CII Partnership Summit-cum-Sunrise Andhra Pradesh Investment Meet and the record number of MoUs signed by investors, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that the next summit of the CII would also be held in the city to sustain the momentum. This has given a big boost to the Brand Vizag campaign, promoting it as one of the most happening city.

As many as 1,500 delegates participated in the summit, with 8 foreign trade ministers & secretaries, 8 Union Ministers and 350 delegates from abroad. Many of them visited the city for the first time and were impressed with its neatness and the investment ecosystem in AP,” said Special Chief Secretary and IT Adviser to Chief Minister J.A. Chowdary. Incidentally, Union Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu also tweeted about the same, saying the artistic wall paintings around the city, which were a part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan; really impressed him.

At the end of the summit, it was announced that MoUs entailing an investment of Rs. 4.78 lakh crore were signed during the three days. Some major project investments include: Rs. 5,000 crore for Reliance shipyard at Rambilli, Rs. 3,000-crore  for Trina Solar in the multi-product AP Special Economic Zone at Atchyuthapuram and Rs. 600 crore for the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) in Vizag district.

Apart from these, agreements have been signed for several food processing units, tourism projects, and projects in the retail sector in Visakhapatnam and the north coastal districts.

The Special Chief Secretary and IT Adviser to Chief Minister J.A. Chowdary, said “We all got very clear instructions from the Chief Minister to work on executing all the projects announced to enable many aspiring young people of AP to get employment opportunities. Hence, 2017 will be the year of execution of MoU projects.”
