New OTT releases this week to add to your watchlist!

As winter chills have started to set in, preparing to envelop the world in its shimmery, chilly yet festive embrace, OTT platforms are also gearing up to serve a feast for their audiences. From high school romance to politics, from mystery to whimsicality, this week’s releases have something for everyone :

1. Bad Girl

This coming-of-age drama is told from a woman’s perspective through the story of Ramya, a student who falls in love but has to suppress her desires due to misogynistic societal norms. Later in college, she dates a witty yet unavailable guy, who eventually breaks her heart. She starts to question the societal norms and begins to navigate her life while maintaining a balance between her conservative middle-class parents, society, and her own longings.

Set in an alternative futuristic universe, a group of superheroes protects the Earth after gaining supernatural powers. They encounter an extraterrestrial herald, who marks the planet for death by Galatcus.​

3. Death By Lightning

Based on true events, this miniseries is set in 1881, when U.S. President James Garfield was assassinated by Charles Guiteau, who believed himself to be the more deserving candidate for the position. The movie is based on the book Destiny Of The Republic by Candace Mard.

4. Maharani Season 4

A former Chief Minister’s widowed wife faces a drastic change in her life after she is elected to her husband’s position. From a homemaker in Bihar’s rural villages to handling documents that she can’t read, facing the media and cameras, her life takes an overwhelming turn. The protagonist, played by Huma Qureshi, finds herself amidst scandals that her deceased husband was allegedly involved in.

5. Frankenstein

A young scientist works on creating a being made out of corpses’ skin, but horrified by its grotesque appearance, he abandons it. The story shows how the grotesque yet intelligent being learns to read, communicate, and learns of his own existence. His abandonment results in him nurturing extreme hatred for his creator, and he’s on a quest to avenge it.

6. Baramulla

DSP Ridwaan Shafi Sayyid is sent to the valley to investigate a series of cases of missing children, where he finds himself entangled in a sociopolitical scandal. Ridwaan, who already has a past, finds it difficult to navigate through his new life. At home, he struggles as his professional life begins to impact his relationships. Meanwhile, a supernatural element starts to haunt them.
