Cricket – Visakhapatnam To Host The First Test Match

Remember the good old days of yore, when one would enjoy a full fledged cricket match. When the match was more of an exhibition of cricketing skills and not just crunched to a couple of hours. Well, the time has come for entire Vizag to enjoy the same.

The BCCI on Friday evening announced that Visakhapatnam was allotted a Test match between hosts India and England from November 17 to 21. This will be the first ever Test match to be played in Visakhapatnam at YSR ACA VDCA Stadium. This will follow the one day match between India and New Zealand on October 29 that is being hosted here as well.

It may be recalled that Visakhapatnam got the Test status in November, 2015. Visakhapatnam hosted its first ODI Cricket match at Indira Priyadarshini stadium on December 10, 1988, where India took on New Zealand.

However, after the construction of the YSR ACA VDCA stadium at PM Palem,Visakhapatnam the city hosted its first ODI Cricket Match on April 5, 2005 when India faced Pakistan.The stadium has in total hosted five ODIs, 11 IPL matches and several women cricket matches since 2005.

So with a great lineup of players, under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, let’s pray that our country fairs victorious in this Series. And, let’s make sure that we block those dates to cheer for the country at the stadium!
