60-year-old held for printing fake money notes in Visakhapatnam

In the latest news, the Visakhapatnam police have arrested a 60-year-old man for allegedly attempting to print fake money notes. He was a resident at the MVP colony and was arrested on Wednesday night.

The accused was identified as Sri Rama, alias Gupta, from Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh. The police have confiscated a paper-cutting table, a printer, a laptop, mobile phones, and fake Rs 500 and Rs 200 currency notes printed on one side without serial numbers from the accused. 

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mary Prasanthi, addressed the media in a press conference. Based on information from a credible source, the MVP police followed the instructions from Commissioner of Police, Shankabratha Bagchi. They also sought the support of the City Task Force to conduct spontaneous raids. The raid yielded results when a house in the MVP sector 11 was raided, and the authorities busted a counterfeit currency operation.

She also stated that the accused acquired special papers from Mumbai for preparing the fake currency, along with other accessories like a printer and laptops. He began printing the currency and was caught red-handed by the police on Wednesday night.

Investigation has revealed that the accused has been to jail for five years a fake currency manufacturing case. There are cases registered against the accused in Indore and Mumbai.
