Rape of 16 year old girl continues for 2 years, father accused.

The outrage against rape cases rising unabated continues. In the district of Srikakulam, a 16 year old girl has approached the authorities to file a rape case. The unfortunate incident is made more vicious by the fact that the rapist was none other than the father of the victim. A large percent of rape cases in India involve acquaintance rape, incest rape and others. This signify that the victim knows the perpetrator of rape with familiarity. This incident brings to light the sorry state of women’s security.

The issue has been brought forward when the helpless girl has brought up the matter in front of the elders of her village. The villagers have at once given aid to the child and handed over the accused to the police. Not just that, he was beat up by the locals and shamed before the case was booked on him. The victim has mentioned that her mother was aware of the going-ons all the while. She did not raise her voice. A case has been registered against the accused under Section 376 if the Indian penal code and Sections 5,6 of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offenses Act.

The accused is 43 year old Mailapalli Appanna of Chinna Kovvada, Ranasthalam mandal in Srikakulam district. The victims mother is Polamma. Speedy justice for this heinous act of rape has been assured by the authorities.
