Vizag Junior Lit Fest 2025: Everything you need to know about registration, dates, and highlights

The sixth edition of Vizag Junior Lit Fest 2025 (VJLF 2025), organised by the Lit Lantern Culture and Literature Welfare Society, is slated to take place in Hawa Mahal at Beach Road, on November 8 and 9. This is Andhra Pradesh’s only children’s literary festival. The festival’s primary aim is to engage the children of Visakhapatnam and other cities with the enchanting world of various forms of literature and culture. VJLF was featured as one of the top ten fests for children in India in 2018.  The society has hosted three literary festivals in 2018, 2019, and 2024, along with two theatre festivals in 2023. Each of these events was attended by more than 3,000 students, parents, and educators.

This year, children, parents, and educators have much to look forward to! With 20 speakers, 102 sessions featuring authors, illustrators, life skills coaches, and cartoonists, as well as 2 theatre performances, this two-day festival promises participants a day filled with learning and meaningful literary interactions.

The sessions will be conducted by 20 renowned personalities from all over the country and world, like Shobha Tharoor Srinivasan, Vaishali Shroff, Vikram Sridhar, Abhishek Talwar, Nupur Aggarwal, Ajit Narayan, and Jyoti Pande, among others.

The renowned Helen O’Grady International theatre group from Mumbai, the world’s largest after-school development drama programme, will be hosting two theatre plays,  Shakesphere’s The Tempest and The Sound of Music. 

The Fest’s Features:

The fest is organised in a manner to appeal to the various age groups attending and get even engagement levels from them. Children will get the opportunity to interact with the authors and illustrators and learn more from them through innovative workshops. The event includes sessions for parents and educators, where they can take part in parenting workshops and career talks. They can also purchase books by the authors and get them signed by them authors. 

The main focus of the Vizag Junior Lit Fest 2025 moves beyond writing and reading to encompass personality development, skill development, and themes that resonate with children and young adults. The topics for discussion include leadership skills, body positivity, well-being, and mindfulness, along with real-life stories to depict courage and change. The festival will feature a storytelling session by Dipna Daryanani, featuring movement to help children experience and express their perspectives through performance and rhythm.

Adults accompanying the young readers will also have sessions. The highlights include careers in the creative field, transforming passive social media browsing into active creativity, and discussions about building strong reading habits. Additionally, there will be sessions about self-publishing and the constantly changing ecosystem of creative work for aspiring writers, educators, and parents. With interactive sessions, discussions, and workshops, the Vizag Junior Lit Fest 2025 promises an exciting weekend for those attending!
