The Executive Business Lounge at Vizag airport will soon be equipped with “high-end” facilities, the Andhra Pradesh Air Travellers Association (APATA) informed.
The lounge is expected to feature facilities such as a restaurant, WiFi of international standards after being worked up by a contracted agency.
“Contract awarded for execution of Executive Business Lounge with International standards with high – end facilities like Restaurant, Wifi etc. The facility is expected to be ready in next three months (sic),” APATA said in a press release.
It has also been mentioned that Vizag airport witnessed growth in cargo and passenger traffic in the bygone months. “There is a 21.3% growth in the passenger traffic for the first three quarters for FY 2018-19. About 21.44 Lakhs passengers travelled from Visakhapatnam Airport from 1-4-2018 to 31-12-2018, whereas the passengers travelled during the corresponding period of the FY 2017-18 is 18.09 Lakhs,” APATA said in a press release.
While the handling of domestic cargo at Vizag airport saw growth of 17.5% in the financial year 2018-19 as compared to that during 2017-18, the handling of international cargo witnessed a growth of 102.48%.
It has also been reported that two new airlines, Vistara and GoAir will start their operations from Vizag airport. Vistara Airlines would be operating their flight to Delhi and Go Air to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.
Earlier, it was announced that Singapore-based Scoot airline will also be extending its services to Vizag.
