Research Will Be Carried Out By AU For GVMC

Andhra University’s Centre for Studies on Bay of Bengal signed an agreement with GVMC to carry out a research programme and generate high resolution aerial photographic data for the areas that come under GVMC. It was signed by the GVMC Commissioner – M Harinarayanan and Registar of AU – V Uma Maheswara Rao in the presence of Vice Chancellor of AU – G Nageswara Rao, Vice Chairman of APSCHE – P Vijaya Prakash, AU College of Science and Technology Principal – CV Raman, Director of Centre for Studies on Bay of Bengal – P Rama Rao and other officials from AU and GVMC.

The Centre for Studies on Bay of Bengal has established laboratories to generate and process the collected aerial photographic data, geo-tag entities and units, provide basic attribute data on location and physical dimensions, and make thematic maps on water, power, drainage, road networks and distribution systems.

The agreement includes a detailed study of select zones for assessment of all properties, public utilities and geo-tagging. The surveys will provide a chance to develop 3D modules of every nook of the city and provide a virtual visit and on-site demonstrations for visitors. The research that was thought of first when Pravin Kumar was the GVMC Commissioner will be completed within six months.

Pravin Kumar, District Collector and GVMC Special Officer says that the perks of this research are such that the data generated will help GVMC regulate their revenue and help them provide a number of value added services to Vizagites.
