Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates Metro Rail in Hyderabad

The much-awaited Hyderabad Metro has finally been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Sri. Narendra Modi launched the operations by flagging off the 30 km-long first phase of the metro rail project at Miyapur. Passengers will be able to commute between Miyapur and Nagole using Metro Rail from Wednesday morning.

Image may contain: 3 people, suit and indoorThe PM, on the Metro Rail’s maiden journey, was accompanied by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Governor ESL Narasimhan, Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and other cabinet ministers including Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao.

The Metro Rail Project in Hyderabad in the world’s largest Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in this particular sector. The network, which has been built with an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore, will cover a distance of 72 km across three corridors in the city.

The officials are hopeful that the Metros, once operational, will ease out the traffic woes in the city and will provide better means of transport to the citizens of Hyderabad.

The operations, which will begin from November 29th, will be transporting people from 6 AM to 10 PM daily.
