Grand(son) plan behind Kancharapalem robbery

The Kancharapalem police have cracked the recent robbery case in which an old woman and his grandson were robbed of gold jewelry and cash.

While giving the details in a press note on 10 October, the police made shocking revelations.

According to them, the grandson was the main accused in the case. He allegedly hatched a plot along with his friends for the robbery.

As a part of the plan, the youth, Krishnakant, asked his friends, Pramod Kumar, Abhishek, and Surya Kumar, to beat him up also along with his grandmother, so that one would suspect him.

The three friends of Krishnakant gained entry into the house on 4 October night when the father of Krishnakant went to Hyderabad for work. They tied the old woman and Krishnakant with a plastic wire and decamped with gold and cash.

Later, they fled the place in the car of Krishnakant’s father, which was parked in front of the house. They left the car at an isolated place near Marikavalasa and came to the RTC complex from where they left for Hyderabad after a brief halt in Vijayawada.

After coming to know that the police were searching for them, they returned to Visakhapatnam.

The police, who were tracing them based on CCTV footage and call data, nabbed the four while they were sharing the booty.

The police recovered 12 tolas of gold and Rs. 2. 10 lakh in cash from them. The vehicle was also recovered earlier.

The police further said that Krishnakant resorted to the crime as he lost heavily in online trading and had a lot of debts.
