
G Nageswara Rao, the vice-chancellor of Andhra University professor visited the Nagarjuna Hostel this Sunday. He interacted with many students and teachers and shred his views about the college conditions. He expressed his unhappiness over the quality of food being served at the hostel mess and promised to improve the food quality for the students good. He said that the standards at AU hostels would be improved and urged the wardens to ensure that the students were not deprived of their bare necessities in hostels premises. He noticed about the student’s complaints regarding the food and wanted to do something about it. He urged the A.U students to focus more on academics while he promised better facilities at hostels. People present in the university said that this was a major step taken by the VC to giver better living conditions to the hostel students and would also bridge the gap between students and the university management.
However, some students raised their voice to say that this was a move by the management to smoothe the future dissent as students from the same hostel staged a ‘rasta roko’ at Siripuram Junction demanding better food at the hostel on 27th February.
