Vizag predicted to have a rainy Diwali this year

On the morning of Dhanteras 2021, the people of Vizag were greeted with light rainfall. While the rainfall stopped by noon, more rain and largely-cloudy weather are expected in the coming days and all signs are pointing towards a damp Diwali in Vizag this year.

With the Northeast Monsoon entering the city last week, along with a low pressure area, light rainfall was witnessed at the end of the week. But the low pressure area got delayed and stuck around for longer than expected, due to which Vizag experienced strong winds on Monday night. Andhra Pradesh Weatherman, Sai Praneeth, revealed that in the next three days, till Diwali, light to moderate rain is expected to hit Vizag. Much of it is predicted to come during the daytime or at midnight.

Furthermore, another low pressure area is heading towards Visakhapatnam, expected to make landfall in the second week of November. However, depending on what direction this low pressure area takes, it will be learnt whether Vizag will experience light or heavy rainfall.

With the arrival of the Northeast Monsoon, temperatures have lowered in the city. However, in the Visakhapatnam Agency region, the temperatures have increased from under 15 degrees Celsius to now hovering around 19-20 degrees Celsius. According to Praneeth, this rise in temperature is due to the increased humidity in the area. With winter around the corner, temperatures are expected to drop again in the hilly regions of the Visakhapatnam District.

Citizens are requested to prepare for some light rainfall this Diwali. However, let us not allow it to dampen our festive spirits.
