Organs of a brain-dead woman were donated by her family members in Visakhapatnam on 12 October, in latest news.
According to reports, K. Annapurna of Visalakshinagar in Visakhapatnam suffered severe injuries when a motorbike hit her while she was crossing the road on 11 October.
She was admitted to VIMS where doctors tried their best to save her. As she did not respond to the treatment, doctors declared her brain dead.
A medical team at the hospital educated her family members about organ donation and they responded positively.
When Jeevandan State coordinator and VIMS director was informed about it, he asked the doctors team to collect the organs.
Later, with the cooperation of the city police, the collected organs — liver, lungs and cornea– were sent to a hospital in Hyderabad through a green channel.
