When it comes to romance, the slower the burn, the higher the passion. If we’re talking specifically about the enemies-to-lovers trope among Vizag spots, the transition from NAD to Kakani Nagar takes the spot. NAD, one of the busiest and most cramped areas, notorious for its traffic, smoothly transitions into the quieter, neighbourly roads of Kakani Nagar. Imagine the bumper-to-bumper traffic as relationship hardships, with the flyover finally serving as the stage where both areas meet halfway.
Ask any Vizagite about their favourite beach, and they probably won’t give you an absolute answer. While the coast is filled with beaches, each one caters to the different moods and aesthetics of the locals. Topping the list, neck and neck, would be Rushikonda and Bheemili, both offering the perfect combination of isolation and picturesque views for a getaway and some much-needed peace and quiet.
When it comes to Vizag, one area that catfishes locals is undeniably Gopalapatnam. Why, you ask? Because some of its commercial spaces are literal rip-offs of notable brands, often confusing customers about product quality, authenticity and the overall customer experience. No matter how cosmopolitan the markets and shops may seem, Gopalapatnam is yet to make its grand appearance as Pandu in Pokiri to redeem itself from being known primarily as a traffic hub.
In psychology, the mere exposure effect explains how people can develop feelings through repeated exposure. In terms of Vizag areas, that would be Purna Market and Daba Gardens, located 1.4 kilometres apart. Sharing the same sentiment of having almost everything readily available and catering to the daily necessities of Vizagites, these two areas have a lot in common, much like shared interests in a relationship, while existing in close proximity.
Just like in movies where the leads undergo a major transformation and step into their main-character energy, one of Vizag’s dramatic makeovers happened in Yendada, which, 10 years ago, was semi-rural at best. Now, it proudly boasts high-rise buildings and has evolved into a sought-after suburban landscape. MVP Colony went through a similar transformation years before, with what was once just a hill turning into a thriving residential township.
Vizag is, after all, a city that gives us plenty to romanticise, even the traffic and everyday chaos.
