The availability of adventure water sports in the city has gone up a notch as the backwaters of Mangamaripeta and Rushikonda beach are now home to several of them. Kayaking, banana boat rides, zorbing and jet skiing are some of the sports introduced by ‘Ocean Wave’ in these places. Rs 5 crore has been introduced into the project so far and Mangamaripeta beach is soon to have water sports too.
Hovercrafts, fly boards and scuba diving are soon to be introduced along with yatching and cruise boats. Rs 14 crore has been sanctioned by the government for further developments. Eight beach points have been identified for development of beach parks and water sports. The ‘Ocean Wave’ adventure water sports have been introduced only on a trial basis for now, if adventure lovers continue to seek them, the number of water sports will be expanded.
The speed boats and few other equipment are in Vijayawada at present as the government wanted the Krishna Pushkaralu pilgrims to enjoy some adventure sports.
Yo! Vizag previously wrote about scuba diving, kayaking and surfing available at Mangamaripeta beach, RK beach and 14 other points across the city’s coastline. Let’s hope more alternatives keep getting added for the adventure lovers.
