Waltair Railway Division bags 6 awards for efficiency in operations

Waltair Railway Division has added more laurels to their cabinet by winning big at the Railway Week Awards this year. The awards list was announced by East Coast Railway (ECoR) and the awards ceremony took place in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday evening. East Coast Railway (ECoR) General Manager Vidya Bhushan was the Chief Guest for the event. Talking about the growth of ECoR, he made note of the fact that ECoR had become the highest loading zone in Indian Railways.

Six departments of the Waltair Railway Division have received these awards, called “Efficiency Shields” from ECoR. These departments are Coaching Depot, Finance, Personnel, Scrap Disposal, Signal & Telecom (S&T) and Sports. 

The awards ceremony at Bhubaneswar was attended by Divisional Railway Manager Anup Kumar Satpathy who accepted the Efficiency Shields along with the department officers. Speaking at the occasion, he congratulated all the award winners and departments that bagged the Efficiency Shields, appreciating their valuable contribution to the growth of the Waltair Railway Division. DRM Satpathy also encouraged these departments to continue working in this spirit and taking the division to newer heights in the future.

Waltair Railway Division has been excelling in day-to-day operations and passenger satisfaction. Last year, it had emerged as the highest loading

division in Indian Railways during the Covid-19 enforced lockdown. In July 2021, the division adopted solar power as its source of electricity by commissioning a 1-MW solar power plant in Vizag. This solar plant has been particularly beneficial to the Wagon Repair Workshop.
