City Police Commissioner Shanka Brata Bagchi and his Vizag police team bagged the Award for Best Crime Detection (ABCD), third prize, for cracking the loan app fraud case.
The team received the prestigious award from State DGP Harish Kumar Gupta at an event held at the police headquarters in Mangalagiri on 19 December.
The team, led by Shanka Brata Bagchi, investigated the fraud case using technology and arrested 19 accused. The team, with the help of technological expertise, transferred and secured the USD cryptocurrency (virtual digital currency) in their possession to a hardware wallet. Later, it was converted into Indian currency and refunded to the victims of the loan app fraud.
