Abhishikth Kishore takes over as Vizag Collector

Muttimbaku Abhishikth Kishore (An IAS officer of the 2015 batch) took over as the District Collector of Visakhapatnam on April 1.

Later, speaking to the media, Abhishikth Kishore said that he would strive for the development of the Visakhapatnam district and for the welfare of the people. “I will work hard to ensure that the fruits of the welfare schemes reach the real beneficiaries,” he said. The new Collector made it clear that the comprehensive development of the district would be his priority. “Visakhapatnam is a fast-developing city that is not only a key economic, industrial and IT hub for the State but also for the country.”

Abhishikth Kishore said he was committed to further accelerating development programmes in the district. Steps would be taken to attract more investments, especially in the IT, industries, and tourism sectors, he said, adding that he would focus on infrastructure development, creation of employment opportunities, and balanced development of urban and rural areas.

He emphasised that the welfare of the people was the goal of the government, and he would work hard in that direction. “I will directly interact with the people, understand their problems and address them as early as possible,” said the Collector.

Stating that he is from Andhra Pradesh, his hometown is Nellore, and both his parents are government employees, the Collector said he served in various capacities so far.
