The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) took back possession of the sports complex and Kalavani Auditorium, located at Saligramapuram in Visakhapatnam, on 15 December after the cancellation of lease agreements.
According to a press note issued by the VPA, the sports complex was previously leased to Viswanath Sports and Conventions Private Limited, and the Kalavani Auditorium to Viswanath Avenues (India) Private Limited.
However, due to their failure to comply with the terms and conditions stipulated in the lease agreements, the VPA issued lease termination notices in September.
After the completion of the due process following the issuance of the lease termination notices, the VPT took back possession of the sports complex and auditorium in the presence of the state government revenue personnel. Now, the entire stadium complex is back under the control of the VPA.
Keeping in view the interests of the port and the public, and in accordance with the port’s rules and regulations, the VPA will take necessary measures to protect the assets.
