New BSNL Towers To Come Up In Visakhapatnam

Around 45 new BSNL 3G towers and 15 new 2G have been allotted to Visakhapatnam Telecom District and most of them would be in the city according to the principal General Manager of Visakhapatnam Telecom District, Nalini Verma.

Due to the problem of call drops faced by mobile users in some areas of the city, the new towers are expected to address the mentioned problem. In total we have 344 2G cell towers in Visakhapatnam district, that includes 186 in urban areas and 158 in rural areas, and 250 3G connections including 169 in urban and 81 in rural areas. The total BSNL mobile connections available in the district are around 8 lakh out of which 7.42 are prepaid connections.

She further on added that 50 new Wi-fi connections hot spots will come up in the city this year and 10 of these would be commissioned in the next few months. We have dozens of hotspots available in our city, between Ramakrishna Beach and Kailasagiri. Gated communities, malls and integrated townships could be benefited by subscribing to the Wi-fi facility at low cost.

An ‘app’ named Limited Fixed Mobile Telephony, which is provided by BSNL, allows customers to make or receive voice calls within and outside the network based on static IP either from the customer’s laptop or mobile.

This facility is very helpful as customers can use their mobile handset as a landline, within the Wi-fi calling area, this also helps the customer for the ‘free night calling’ and other facilities available on BSNL landline, mobile, VoIP from the BSNL LFMT.

A customer named Shyam Bihari Madhopuria of Dabagardens is availing the LFMT facility, is overwhelmed by the advantages of the new facility. He added that it is very helpful in availing of the offers extended on BSNL landline.
