Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT), on Monday, held discussions with Principal Secretary (infrastructure and investment and CRDA) Ajay Jain, CRDA Commissioner Cherukuri Sreedhar and other officials in Vijayawada. Led by its chairman Bibop Gresta, the company proposed to set up a Hyperloop Transportation System connecting Amaravati to Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, and Anantapur.
Along with Bibop Gresta, Joel Michael, India Head, HyperloopTT and Sabih Khisaf, Head of Engineering (Middle East & North Africa), Hyperloop TT, were also present at the discussions held.
A pre-feasibility study, which was prepared by HTT and Aarvee Associates of Hyderabad, was presented by the delegates to Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) and other nodal state departments. The proposed route, connecting Amaravati, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Anantapur, is expected to cover a transit of about 700-800 km. The project is expected to be executed in three phases.
Reportedly, Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary (infrastructure and investment and CRDA), said that there is a need for sustainable high-quality robust mass transportation system for the proposed capital city of Amaravati, which would house 3.5 million people and create 1.5 million jobs.
Bibop Gresta, who visited Visakhapatnam during the recently held CII Partnership Summit, while speaking to Yo! Vizag, said, ” Andhra Pradesh has several densely populated cities and we employed a step by step approach towards implementing the technology in the state. We analyzed different routes and found the Amaravati-Vijayawada route to be the best possible one for implementing our first corridor here. Once constructed, this corridor will transport people and goods between these two cities, spaced 40 km apart, within 4-6 minutes. The project can be completed within five years after being started and has the potential to change the entire ecosystem of Andhra Pradesh.”
