Dockyard Bridge all set to reopen

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Bridge, well known as Dockyard Bridge, in Visakhapatnam, which was closed for vehicular traffic 18 months ago, is all set to reopen on 11 November.

The bridge, which connects Gajuwaka to the city through the industrial belt, reduces travel time for motorists.

The 300-meter bridge, which was reconstructed with advanced technology, is also expected to improve connectivity.

The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) took up the reconstruction of the bridge as part of its exercise to upgrade the port connectivity. The bridge was constructed with Rs. 30 crore.

Closure of the Dockyard Bridge caused much inconvenience to motorists as they had to take alternative routes, which increased the travel time significantly in Visakhapatnam.

Visakha West MLA P G V R Naidu (Ganababu), who inspected bridge work recently, talked to the authorities on the progress of works.
