The Visakhapatnam police arrested three persons on 13 October on the cyber fraud charge.
According to the police, a retired steel plant employee residing at Kurmannapalem in the city has been duped to the tune of over Rs. 15 lakh by the three persons who belong to Nandyal in the State.
The victim, who was included in the group of an app, received a message in July 2025 offering a work-from-home job.
Attracted by the offer, he sent his details. He was entrusted with a task for which an amount was sent. After a couple of days, he was offered more and asked to pay a sum initially. Convinced by it, the victim sent Rs. 15.51 lakh through different bank branches to the gang.
He was not paid any remuneration for the transactions. Instead, he was asked to pay more to get a higher amount.
Realising that he was cheated, he approached the police, who investigated the case using the latest technology, nabbed them, and produced them in court.
