5 reasons that make GITAM special for its students

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, famously known as GITAM University, in Visakhapatnam, has emerged to become one of Southern India’s most renowned educational institutions. The institution which was established in 1980, has been a home to many successful people over the years. Going strong even after 37 years, GITAM remains as one of the most popular institutions in Andhra Pradesh.

The students who are, or have been, a part of this institution share a special bond with it. From bunking classes to preparing right before the exams, typical to any graduate student, the students here, do it all.

Apart from its educational standards, here are 5 reasons that have given GITAM a special place in the heart of every GITAMite.

#5 The ‘DOWN’ ADDA

One place where many students have innumerable memories is at the GITAM Down. The Kondamma Pan shop situated at down has developed into a GITAMite’s hub. Famously known as KPS, this place is famous for its steaming hot Maggi. A place that has stood witness to many discussions ranging from lab experiments to life philosophies, the DOWN is inseparable from any GITAMite.

#4 Multiple Clubs to encourage talent

Be it the GUSAC (GITAM University Science activity centre), or the Kala Krithi, or even the G Studio, GITAM has many student clubs to identify the creative personality in you. The engineering college even has many technical student chapters to groom the budding engineers. The members in these clubs quickly form into one family and exhibit their exquisite talents. Wondering where all those leaders, dancers, singers or photographers from GITAM University come from? You know the answer now.

#3 The Drive to GITAM

This is something that can only be experienced. Riding a bike on the beach road, with a friend as the pillion, while carrying the typical “GITAM attitude”, is an unparalleled feeling. The stretch from Kailasagiri to Rushikonda offers an awesome driving experience to the students. A road that is beautifully nestled between lush green hills and sparkling blue waters pumps up these guys each day.

#2 The Beach escape

Needless to say that the Bay of Bengal too has stood witness to many GITAM memories. The Rushikonda beach located near GITAM University offers the students the best possible get away. It may be during a class bunk or after a tiring day or even after attending interviews, GITAMites just love soaking themselves in the fresh and rejuvenating atmosphere of the beach.

#1 The College atmosphere

Covered with beautiful greenery and a recipient of the cool sea breeze, the college truly offers quite a pleasant and enjoyable atmosphere to revel in. Spread over a 100-acre area, it has buildings named after some eminent personalities in the country. Many students here throw themselves into the lawns while preparing for the exams.

Spending hours on the ground, having infinite conversations near Frankie, waiting near KRC for a bus are some of the favourite moments of GITAMites.
