At 71, he is still going strong, drawing crowds in droves to theatres with his energetic performances. His movies still rule the roost at the box office, collecting record-breaking numbers. The recent blockbuster, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, has grossed over Rs. 300 crore, proving his ‘mega’ power. Chiranjeevi, the iconic actor of the Telugu cinema world, celebrated his 71st birthday on Saturday (August 22), and his fans planned several programmes, such as ‘Mega Mahotsavam’, to mark the ‘special day’.
In Visakhapatnam, fans of the hero celebrated the occasion in a big way on Friday night by organising a variety of events, including a ‘mega mass night’ and a ‘mega carnival’, where they danced to the tunes of their favourite hero’s hit songs. A huge hit from 2004, Shankar Dada MBBS, has been re-released in a remastered 4K version across the State to mark the occasion. A recipient of the nation’s second-highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2024, the hero, in a glorious career spanning over five decades, has acted in 156 films, delivering several blockbusters.
Riding high on the success of Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, the actor is all set to thrill his fans with Vishwabhara, a socio-fantasy action movie slated for release in October. Directed by Vassishta, the film has been made on a budget of over Rs. 300 crore. Next in line is his 158th project, officially titled Kaaka, being directed by Bobby. The makers of the movie plan to release it for Sankranti 2027. With several milestone achievements in his splendid journey, the ‘mega star’ has his eyes set on adding more feathers to his already glittering crown.
