VUDA Park reopened after extensive modernization works in Vizag

The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) Park, famously known as the VUDA Park has been reopened after renovation on 26 December, 2021. The park was closed for a couple of months for modernization and renovation related works. Located near Ramakrishna beach, near the Kailashgiri arch, the park spreads over 55 acres with over 2500 trees in Vizag.

The park was reinaugurated by Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, on 17 December, 2021. The ticket counter of the park has been inaugurated by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority Chairperson, A Vijaya Nirmala, to make it accessible for the public after renovation. To mark this occasion, and to officially announce that the VUDA park has been reopened, the VMRDA Chairperson bought the first ticket.

VUDA Park has been beautified with mural paintings and picturesque landscaping by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), under the Smart City project. This place is now equipped with galleries, an amphitheatre, walking tracks, a cycling track, a play area with seating arrangements to entertain the children under the supervision of adults and a yoga space. The existing skating rink, playpen, and lake boating facility have now been renovated. The park has a musical water fountain where water dances according to the rhythm of the music and the musical fountain show takes place in the evenings in four different slots from 6:15 am to 8:30 pm.

The park comes under the supervision of the VMRDA, and the GVMC has developed the park as part of the Smart City initiative. For the development of the park infrastructure, the civic body had allotted a fund of Rs 33.5 crore.

For years this park in Vizag is the most preferred location for morning walks, skating, boating and kids play areas. The ticket fare is Rs. 20 for adults and Rs. 10 for children. All visitors are advised to take all the necessary Covid-19 measures like wearing a mask and maintaining social distance while visiting the park.
