Several parts of Andhra Pradesh have been experiencing heavy rainfall for the past two days due to the influence of a deep low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, according to the latest Vizag weather update.
While rivers in the affected districts are in spate, roads have become waterlogged, disrupting vehicular traffic. The districts that have been badly affected include Nellore, Prakasam, Krishna, Guntur, Tirupati and Kadapa.
Meanwhile, the cyclone warning centre in Visakhapatnam has advised fishermen not to venture into the sea till 26 October. According to the warning, two more low-pressure areas are brewing in the Bay of Bengal, and rain is likely for the next five days.
Taking stock of the situation, Home Minister V Anitha, who was in Anakapalle, directed the Collectors of the affected districts to ensure the availability of officials round the clock. She advised them to alert NDRF and SDRF to meet any eventuality.
