Four youngsters, belonging to Butchayyapeta mandal in Visakhapatnam district, have been left stranded for help in Malaysia. The youth, who had gone to Malaysia for jobs, met an unfortunate fate when things didn’t go as per the plan and are now believed to be held captive by their employer in an apartment.
As per the information provided by the parents of the victims, M Venku Naidu, Girish, Mahesh, and Srinivas Rao had approached K Srinivas, an overseas job agent in Visakhapatnam, for getting jobs in Malaysia. Each of the job seekers paid Rs 60,000 to the agent, who assured jobs with a monthly salary of Rs 40,000. After being taken to the foreign country on tourist visas in August last year, they were then handed over to another local job agent. Things soon turned ugly when their passports were forcibly taken by the employer, who reportedly confined them to an apartment at Jalan Medan Batu Caves, Selangor. Reports further claim that the youngsters have been ill-treated on top of not being fed sufficiently.
Seeking help, the parents of the youth have approached local politicians on Thursday. They have urged the concerned authorities to take the necessary steps to release the youngsters, who have been left stranded for help in Malaysia.
